How it Works

ViA-step-1
To obtain a ViA® card, the consumer first opens a ViA® account at a Verified Merchant. The ViA® account is a virtual account administered by ViA®, and the amount deposited belongs to you in a custodian account with any of the banks that ViA® is affiliated with.

ViA-step-3
The ViA® customer then takes the ViA® card to any verified Street Vendor or Kirana Shop to buy a product.

ViA-step-5
When the User accepts the amount to be paid, he/she just touches their ViA® card to the device and the payment is completed in less than one second.

ViA-step-7
The transaction is complete, and the user can take the purchased product with him/her.

ViA-step-9
The Vendor uses his/her ViA® Vendor card, where the Tokens are stored, and uploads them to the backend‐system (ViA® NET). There the Token is validated and the “real” money is instantly credited to the Vendors ViA® Account. The ViA® Account is connected to a standard debit card so that the vendor can either pay his/her bills and make transfers, or use it to take out cash from an ATM or directly from an authorized Uploading Merchant.

ViA-step-2
The customer transfers money from his/her ViA® Account into the Verified Offline Wallet (VOW) or deposits cash at a ViA® Merchant or any authorized location to load his/her ViA® card. When the user fills‐up his/her VOW, a secure amount is loaded onto the card, so you are actually carrying your own money in a safe card.

The ViA® customer then takes the ViA® card to any verified Street Vendor or Kirana Shop to buy a product.

ViA-step-4
A ViA® vendor or shop will either have the ViA® eBM terminal (online) or a ViA MiniPay™ device (offline), where the customer can use his/her ViA® card.

ViA-step-5
When the User accepts the amount to be paid, he/she just touches their ViA® card to the device and the payment is completed in less than one second.

ViA-step-6
When the payment has been completed, a secure Token is created and that Token is LOCKED to the Vendor’s card. The Token cannot be altered.

ViA-step-7
The transaction is complete, and the user can take the purchased product with him/her.

ViA-step-8
At the end of the day or at the convenience of the Vendor, he/she can visit a shop that has an Upload device (online), which can be a standard card acceptance machine containing the ViA® Upload feature or it can also be a ViA® Upload‐Kiosk, placed on the corner of a street.

Happy Street Vendor, Merchant, & Consumer!

ViA® card - a card for the people...in a better way!

Unique Solution

Where to Use the Via® Card

A ViA® co-branded card will work anywhere in the world where major credit card are accepted.

You can use the non-branded ViA® card anywhere you see the ViA MiniPay™ acceptance signage or visit our merchant location map and find the ViA® Pay merchant nearest you.

A ViA® card is like any other debit card. It can be used in any shop that accepts card payments. The ViA® card can also be used for making purchases on the internet.

At an authorized terminal, such as a ViA® eBM, money can also be transferred from your ViA® account to your VOW for offline payments.

Loyalty Points

ViA® card uses its own PLUS COUNT concept, which gives back more values to the cardholder for spending.

Lost ViA® card

As a ViA® card registered user, your lost or stolen card can quickly be replaced. You can also receive some ViA® Quick Cash if you are stranded and need cash in a hurry.

Time

Some employers deposit wages & salaries directly into an employee's ViA® Account. The biggest benefit of having a ViA® card is - If you lose your ViA® card, your values are still intact. As opposed to cash - if you lose it, you usually don't get it back.

How & Where to Top-up (refill)

Some employers deposit wages & salaries directly into an employee's ViA® Account. The biggest benefit of having a ViA® card is - If you lose your ViA® card, your values are still intact. As opposed to cash - if you lose it, you usually don't get it back.

You can top-up your ViA® card at any ATM machine, or preferably at any ViA® Merchant displaying the ViA® PAY.

Trustworthiness

The ViA® card operates under the supervision of partnered banks, and your deposits are managed by Custodian Pool Accounts. A custodian account means that the depositor (you) is the owner of the funds, and ViA® card can only use revenues from selling services and products and from any fees charged.

Security - Is the VOW token REALLY safe?

First, ViA® card is a PCI and EMV compliant operation. This means that the ViA® card is as secure or even safer than a traditional card issued by banks. Plus, the ViA® team has developed several security innovations and has filed patents on vital new methods for creating even deeper levels of security.

The VOW token is digitally-signed, which means that the token can be read in plain text and numbers, but the electronic 'Data Record' cannot be changed, altered, or tampered with at all. If any change is made, the signature will no longer match the 'Data Record,' resulting in an invalid Token.

So, the answer is simple - the VOW token is absolutely SAFE. And, since the token itself is safe, it can be stored or communicated in any unprotected manner or by any other means and still be safe and secure.

Zero MDR Fees

A Merchant Discount Rate (MDR) is the cost paid by a merchant to a bank for accepting payment from their customer's credit or debit card, every time a card is used for payment in their store; usually 1.0 - 3.0% of the transaction amount is the normal fee which is applied.

Some card brands offer the consumer 3% ± cash back for using their card. If the cardholder has a participating cashback rewards program, the credit card issuer simply shares some of the merchant fees with the consumer. ViA® does NOT impose any MDR fees on the shop's own customer. If a shop has issued a card to you and you go back to the same shop and use your ViA® card, ViA® does not charge an MDR fee.
